Pune: Proper trickle down of policy and dogma around investments are the two core challenges facing the country, said railway minister Suresh Prabhu. He was speaking at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics in the city on Saturday. There are two key challenges, Prabhu said - one being how to make sure policy made at the macro-level trickles down to the micro level and second, demystifying the dogma surrounding economic policies such as foreign investment in the country. "Economically, how do you match the macro and micro together is going to be a challenge that economic planners need to think about," the railway minister added, stating that the trinity of Jan-Dhan, Aadhaar and Mobile (JAM) is the government's effort in that direction. He further added that there is a need to put in perspective the country's "dogma," relating to foreign capital, foreign investment, private sector and public sector investment. "What we need today is investment, technology and accelerated growth. End result has to be kept in mind. Of course the means to get there is as important as the end in itself, but at the level of development that we are in, we need to make investments in the right manner. So, the dogma associated with many of the economic policy also needs to be properly demystified," Prabhu added. This government has eased the norms for foreign investment in sectors such as defence and insurance.
