dc.description.abstractDr. Vandana Shiva is an Indian scholar, environmental activist, and has written and spoken extensively about advances in the fields of agriculture and food, intellectual property rights, biodiversity, biotechnology, bioethics, and genetic engineering. She has written over 20 books and has made significant contributions to the areas of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and biodiversity. She received the Right Livelihood Award in 1993. Time magazine identified Dr. Shiva as an environmental 'hero' in 2003, and Asia Week has called her one of the five most powerful communicators in Asia. In November 201 0, Forbes magazine identified Dr. Shiva as one of the 'Seven Most Powerful Women on the Globe'.en_US
