Recently, the Central Statistical Office (CSO) has shifted the base year of national accounts to 2011-12 prices from 2004-05. This has attracted lots of attention primarily because unlike the previous revision, this recent revision has introduced major changes in the methodology of data compilation, presentation and uses of data sources. Simultaneously, they have also incorporated several recommendations of the United Nations’ System of National Accounts (UN SNA, 1993 and 2008). Juxtaposing them against the hitherto practices, implications of these changes will be discussed. A few vital statistics will be used to compare both old and new series, emphasizing their significance differences.en_US
