    Abstract
    Founder's Day and Seventeenth Convocation and R R Kale Lecture Seventeenth Convocation of the Institute was held on January 14, 2011. Prof. Sukhadeo Thorat, Chairman, University Grants Commission, New Delhi, was the Chief Guest of the function and he also delivered the Kale Memorial Lecture, 2010 on “Higher Education in India: New Initiatives and New Challenges.” Prof. Thorat also gave away the degrees to the successful M.A. students of the Institute. Thirty five successful students from the batch 2008-2010 and batch 2007-2009 were awarded their M.A. (Economics) degree from the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics. Mr. Ved Prakash, who secured first rank with an 'A+' grade in the M.A. Examination, held in April 2010, was awarded the Pandurangi Prize. Mr. Ved Prakash, who secured first rank with an 'A+' grade in the M.A. Examination, held in April 2010, was awarded the Late Professor M.V. Namjoshi Prize. Miss Varsha Agrawal was awarded the Late Professor M.V. Namjoshi Prize for securing highest marks in the course B04: Industry: Organization, Structure and Problems. Miss Nandita Koshal awarded R.M. Agnihotri Prize for securing the highest marks in the course A06: Economics of Development.
